Trip to the village

Some friends of ours asked us to head to their village in northern Serbia for a little weekend fun this past memorial day - it was Kai's first experience with lots of cows, sheep, pigs and such. As usual he entered the fray with no fear, although he still doesn't quite understand that each animal has its own unique noise (they all say "baaaa" according to him, including cats, pigs, and cows). You can see that he loved the cuisine (he's chewing on a lamb bone in this picture), as well as tractors, bugs and mud puddles... Included a post-bath picture from our return home just because it's cute...

Couple more photos

Nothing to say, just a couple more shots before we move kids/cats/stuff to DC! The one of Belgrade is of a storm coming as seen through our dining room window. Also - Kai looks a little aprehensive on the bike seat, but loved it after a few minutes - so much so we couldn't get him off...

One month to go

One month to go before Amy Kai and the cats head out (John will follow a bit later). It's hard to believe that we've been here two years (ish) - Kai has grown so much in that time, and although it sounds cliche, it seems like we arrived yesterday with a two month old and now he's flirting with girls at the pool, riding his tricycle and almost spitting out coherant words. I suppose there isn't much motivation to actually speak when pointing and grunting generally gets you what you want. I thought I'd include a picture of Kai actually sleeping since that's about as rare as seeing a blue footed booby in Belgrade...

Communi-ahem-international workers day

We had two days off for International Workers' Day here and spent most of our time out in the parks of Belgrade. Kai was introduced to roller coasters and bumper cars (both fascintating to look at but not to ride, yet), and loved the bouncy castle among other things.
